'Grand Theft Auto IV' continues to top sales chart in Canada








TORONTO - "Grand Theft Auto IV" retained its perch atop the Canadian video game sales chart in May, with total sales since launch exceeding 420,000 copies.

The game sold a record 270,000 copies in Canada in April, despite coming out on April 29. In May, it sold another 151,513 copies, according to the NPD Group which tracks the industry.

The Xbox 360 version of "GTA 4" topped the chart, with the PlayStation 3 version occupying No. 3. In second place was Nintendo's "Mario Kart" (with wheel) for the Wii.

Nintendo Wii titles held down four more spots in the top 10 with "Fit" debuting at No. 4. "Play" was No. 5 while "Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock" was No. 6 and "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" was No. 7.

In all, Nintendo had 12 titles in the top 20 (six for the Wii and six for the DS). PlayStation had five (two PS3, two PS 2 and one PSP) on the chart while Xbox 360 had three.
